1759 - Thurot's Raid

French commander François Thurot prepared his expedition to Ireland. His fleet would later raid northern Irish ports. These actions demonstrated continuing French interest in Ireland.

1881 - Land League

The British government proclaimed the Land League an illegal organization. The suppression marked an escalation in the land war. Parnell and other leaders were arrested.

1921 - Treaty Talks
